Information for Editors
Open Access
Open Access publishing is a model that allows readers to freely access published academic material without the need for subscription fees. Journal of Engineering Research and Sciences (JENRS) adopts this approach, making its articles immediately available to a global audience upon publication. This model enables researchers, students, and interested individuals worldwide to promptly access the latest research findings. JENRS distributes its content under a Creative Commons open access license, further facilitating the dissemination of knowledge.
To sustain this publishing model, JENRS utilizes Article Processing Charges (APCs) paid by authors and their affiliated institutions. These charges cover the expenses associated with managing the peer review process, professional copy-editing, and promoting published research. This system potentially offers authors a wider readership for their work, with some studies suggesting increased citation rates for open access publications. Additionally, open access publishing provides value for researchers, funding bodies, and taxpayers by ensuring widespread circulation of research outcomes and transparency in the dissemination of publicly funded research results.
JENRS Editorial Office
The JENRS operates from its headquarters in Wyoming, USA, with a diverse in-house team comprising managing editors, associate editors, production editors, English editors, copyeditors, data specialists, software engineers, and administrative specialists. The journal also collaborates with an international network of editorial board members, typically affiliated with academic institutions or corporate research facilities worldwide. Communication between the in-house editorial staff and external collaborators primarily occurs through email and telephone. Associate editors oversee the peer-review and production processes, while managing editors hold overall editorial responsibility for the journal. The production team, including editors and data specialists, is tasked with preparing accepted content for publication in PDF and HTML formats. Contact information can be found at https://www.jenrs.com/editorial_office/.
Editorial Process, Peer-Review and Production
The JENRS adheres to a rigorous peer-review process for all submitted articles. The journal employs a double-blind peer-review system, where reviewers are unaware of the authors’ identities until after publication. This process is facilitated by the ManuscriptLink online submission system, which integrates tools for manuscript submission, peer review, and editorial decision-making. Notably, external reviewers and editors can complete their assigned tasks without creating an account in the system, as they are recognized through unique, one-time-use identifiers embedded in the provided URLs.
Upon submission, manuscripts are received by an Managing Editor who oversees the entire editorial process. This includes coordinating peer review, decision-making, author revisions, manuscript acceptance, copyediting, English editing, proofreading, and final publication. An Associate Editor is assigned to each submission to manage review invitations. The journal requires a minimum of two reviewer reports per manuscript, with a third sought if the initial two differ significantly. Reviewers must hold a PhD, have recent publications in the relevant field, and must not have co-authored with the manuscript’s authors in the past three years.
Final acceptance or rejection decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief, Guest Editor, or an appropriate Editorial Board member, typically following author revisions. The journal generally allows no more than two rounds of major revisions. Once accepted, the editorial team prepares the manuscript for publication through copyediting, English editing, and final production. Although JENRS is structured in yearly volumes and monthly issues, articles are published online immediately upon completion of the production process. Academic Editors who make acceptance decisions have the option to include their name and role on the published manuscript, at their discretion.
